Abbiamo diversi strumenti per rappresentare o re-interpretare la realtà.
La scultura
può essere un valido strumento quando vogliamo creare qualcosa che abbia una massa, esprimere al massimo le caratteristiche di un materiale,
creare dei rapporti particolari tra ombre e luci… ma
C’è anche un modo di usare la scultura che coincide con un modo di usare la pittura
e
C’è un modo di usare la scultura che coincide con un modo di usare l’architettura
e
C’è un modo di usare la scultura che solo la scultura può esprimere
in che altri modi posso usare la scultura?

The sculpture can be a valuable tool when we want to create something that has a mass,
to express the characteristics of a material,
create special relations between shadows and light… But
There is also a way to use the sculpture that coincides with a way to use painting

there is a way to use the sculpture that only sculpture can express…

Sydney Lewis and Frances Lewis avevano l’intenzione di usare l’arte… per sensibilizzare i cittadini all’Architettura… incominciando dai supermercati BEST.
Il gruppo SITE sviluppò l’idea.

Sydney Lewis and Frances Lewis were looking to bring art into the public domain.
SITE developed the idea for BEST showroom series.

Tutto può comunicarci qualcosa.
La facciata di un edificio ci comunica qualcosa.
È come un cartellone pubblicitario.
Dove al posto delle lettere ci sono le finestre, i mattoni, le tegole… ecc…

It’s like a billboard advertising.
Where instead of the letters there are the windows, bricks, tiles… etc…

Ci sono addirittura delle persone (ormai in via d’estinzione), chiamati Poeti, che sono degli specialisti del linguaggio e riescono ad esprimere delle emozioni dando solo un “particolare” ordine alle parole.
L’Architetto, che è un poeta dello spazio, ha un suo linguaggio con cui esprimersi:
ma, a differenze di un poeta che si esprime con le parole o
di un pittore che si esprime con il colore,
le lettere dell’architetto sono i mattoni,
l’intonaco,
le tegole,
le finestre,
le porte,
i muri,
i camini,
i pavimenti,
le porte ecc..
e le mette tutte in ordine seguendo o inventandosi delle regole:
un linguaggio Architettonico per l’appunto.
